Temporary Wall

‘Temporary Wall’ is an artwork constructed using the exact techniques typically employed for building a simple partition wall in an apartment building. The sculpture utilizes the same, inexpensive materials often found in dumpsters outside of apartment renovations.

In Driscoll’s view, the materials used in architecture are frequently regarded as temporary, which presents a stark contrast to the art that is displayed on those walls. Artwork is meticulously cared for and often seen as an investment to be passed down through generations. This creates an interesting relationship between the wall and the art it supports. So in a strange change of fate, this temporary wall becomes permanent when it is hung on another wall and called a piece of art.
